A BIKER IN ME

“The greatest pleasure in life is doing what others say you cannot do” .It was the summer of 2014 when I purchased my first Hybrid bike. As I am a long distance runner, so I brought the bike with the intent to improve my speed and stamina for running. But the experience and joy of biking is more than what I have thought. It brings me into an entirely new world of adventure and excitement.

Being a traveler soul, the biking has given me a great opportunity to discover new places, hang out spots, natural scenery, Bird Sanctuaries and popular eating joints. The most beautiful part of my biking tours is that it gives me an opportunity to meet lot of people who are just sporty and adventurous like me. I am an early riser, therefore I prefer to start my riding by 4 AM. There were days when I was riding all alone on the road under the moonlight. Riding in Moonlight is always a blissful experience and makes me feel as if I am riding under the divine blessings. Reaching India Gate at 5 AM and sitting in front of Amar Jawan Jyoti for 5 minutes meditation makes me refresh and inspires to stay positive, calm and composed in my life.

My initial months of riding went in exploring new places and natural scenery nearby Delhi and NCR. The monumental structures like Aurangzeb tomb, Humayun tomb, India Gate, Old fort which are always overcrowded during day time but appear majestic and lively in early morning when no one was there except few bikers like me or a couple of early morning joggers. With weekend biking my excitement grew up and I started doing century Rides(100 k's) over weekends, Initial 50 km was always easy but rest 50's were really tough to cover as the traffic comes out and there was high heat intensity. But I never lost the courage and I kept myself going.  I began to think  "Just as Gold glitters after being heated, This heat of Sun will mold my body into Gold", So instead of feeling pain and frustration, I began to feel  joyous and energetic and covered up the left over  part of 100 KM rides. Later I successfully attempted a 200 KM brevet in the Month of Nov 2014. That was one of my greatest experience as I was struggling with extreme heat and fatigue after 100 KM ad though of giving up, But I kept going, thinking “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” and eventually got the Adrenaline rush that helps me cover the rest of the distance.
I wish to ride as long as I am breathing in this world.
